#PutIgboInTech is the public campaign behind TokataHQ's work. These are the specific changes TokataHQ is asking technology companies to make, informed by our testing, research and community experiences.
Our asks
Add strong Igbo speech recognition.
Products should accurately recognize spoken Igbo. Everything else in this list depends on it.
Make automatic captions and transcription work in Igbo.
Especially in the products people already use to create and communicate.
Test with real Igbo speakers.
A language on a support list doesn't mean the experience works well. Fluent speakers should check the results.
Be clear about which languages each feature handles.
People should be able to find out whether captions, dictation or voice commands work in Igbo without trial and error.
Put Igbo on product roadmaps now.
Voice is becoming a default way to use technology. Igbo shouldn't be added years later as an afterthought.
Why collective pressure matters
One person's workaround can be easy to miss. When people share similar experiences, the pattern becomes easier to see.
